England finally ups their level of play and we get a good one against Sweden. Horrible to see Michael Owen carted off in the first couple minutes. Hope it’s not the torn ACL it looked like. First goal from England was a superb shot from outside the box. Simply seemed like a one-in-million deal.
Sweden’s second half was much more impressive than their first. They put the English under all kinds of pressure, and I always had the feeling that a goal was imminent. Sure enough it was and in the 51st minute a marvelous header found the back of the net.
England got another goal in 85th, but couldn’t stop Larsson from tying it up in the 90th. Very good second half, and I’m happy to see both these teams move to the second round.
