When I expressed skepticism several months ago about contract tracing in the US, it was mostly because I’d seen no proof that it had ever worked here. The porous borders between states don’t help, either.

Dr. Fauci brought up something I hadn’t considered. Americans aren’t helping:

“Even with identification, isolation, and contact tracing, often the dots are not connected.” Ryan Struyk of CNN reports that Fauci says 50-70% of Americans reached by phone won’t talk to contact tracers.

“That is what is not working,” says Fauci.
