Despite not finishing over half of the Peachpit Press study guide, I passed Apple’s Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 Exam this afternoon up at the Portland Community College Rock Creek campus.
I’m forbidden to discuss the test questions specifically, but I will say that the area that gave me greatest difficulty was—I kid you not—the Windows networking stuff. If someone comes to me with a Windows problem my long-standing answer has been (and continues to be): “It’s probably a virus.” Seriously, I’m really of no more help than that. Why anyone would want to connect a Mac to a Windows server is beyond me, but rest assured it can be done and that I missed most of the questions asking me how.
This certification brings me full membership into the Apple Consultants Network (ACN), which qualifies as a Very Good Thing.™ I’m happy.
